The Office: Season 8

If you can forget about the show The Office used to be, and will yourself to ignore the lack of Steve Carell, and allow yourself to give Season 8 a chance for what it is, rather than what Seasons 1-7 (and 2 and 3 especially) were, then you just might enjoy it. I realize that's a blatantly constructed backhanded compliment, but it's true. Yes, The Office has fallen far, far from where it once reigned atop the heap of respectable TV comedies. And yes, the show absolutely should have ended after seven seasons when Steve Carell decided to move on. But honestly, this show still isn't half bad. I gave up on keeping up with it live, sure, but here I am just after watching the entire thing on DVD and I can't really call it terrible, or even bad. It's long been confirmed that Season 9 will be the show's last, and I'm actually kind of looking forward to catching it on DVD. (Not catching up and seeing it live this winter and spring, though.)
