Spoiler Alert!
So, I have 5 posts to bang through. Consider this the first. As you know, I recently watched Friday Night Lights Season 1, and it was only fitting for me to follow with the second season. The second season shines for only one character: Riggins. He is actually awesome the entire season, even if he gets kicked off the football team, lives with a drug dealer, and hits on Coach's sister-in-law. It's really just a good time. The rest of the cast though are a bunch of whiny brats with bad story lines. Julie is a huge bitch this season, breaks up with Matt, goes after an older "Swede," and is just horrible to Mrs. Coach all season. Landry and Tyra have their own drama involving a murder. Oops. But don't worry; by halfway through the season, they roll right past that and get off scot free. Street has an identity crisis all season. Dates some girls. Moves out. Drives to Mexico for shark surgery. Becomes a car salesman. You know, the usual. Lyla becomes super religious which is awesome in its own way. Because of this though, she has no fun dramatic stories. The best thing that comes out of that is Riggins using the line "I feel closer to God when I'm with you" to kiss her. Good times. Good ol' QB1 Matty Saracen seriously does so little this season it's sad. He cries about Julie then cries about his grandmother's nurse and in another awesome Riggins-based story arc Saracen gets drunk before practice with Timmy Rigs. That was probably his best moment all season. Oh yeah, and Smash has issues with race. Again.
So that's it for season 2. Not as good as season 1 (a la The OC) but still enjoyable to watch. I can only hope season 3 is not as bad as The OC season 3.

Well, I can only hope Sweeney and anyone else who has yet to see Season 2 has skipped reading this spoiler-laden post.
