Prison Break: The Final Break

Entertaining but unnecessary. That's how I'd describe this two-episode "movie" that served as an epilogue to the Prison Break series. It'll be hard to describe what happens without giving away some minor spoilers from the final season, but I'll do my best. Suffice it to say, Michael, Sara, and Lincoln are all on the cover of the DVD because they are all in the movie. Great. You know those three make it to the end of the series now. The title is actually pretty fitting, as Michael and what's left of his crew must attempt one final prison break. This time though, they're bailing Sara out of a women's penitentiary. Hooray! Light-hearted, especially compared to Season 3's Panama fiasco. The female prison is complete with its own array of characters, the most memorable of which was "Daddy," who was the alpha female of the joint and essentially a perfect counterpart to T-Bag. Now, the movie was fun enough, but only a couple of loose ends were tied up; the regular series finale had given very good closure to everyone involved in the series. One negative was that I knew going into the movie the way it would end. Or at least, I knew which characters would be left alive or incarcerated. I knew this because the regular series finale ended with a "four years later" montage; this movie is just an interquel set within that final episode, if that makes sense. And that made the climactic scene less impacting and jarring. I liken it to Star Wars: Episode III; you knew going in that by movie's end you'd have Natalie Portman dead, Anakin turned into Darth Vader, and their babies born and adopted. So when all of those things happened, you were never really surprised or caught off guard. This "movie" is kind of like that. So yeah - this epilogue fit seamlessly within the story and didn't feel tacked on at all, but it didn't provide any real insight or closure either.
