Sons of Anarchy, like Breaking Bad, is a show that's currently between seasons that I really wanted to catch up with. While Breaking Bad lived up to its reputation as the best show on television, Sons lived up to a different reputation- simply a show about a badass motorcycle gang that is entertaining and fun to watch. The Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original, or S.A.M.C.R.O. operates brutally and openly in the small town of Charming, California starting loads of trouble but always seemingly doing things with the good of their community in mind- in between gun deals and vigilante justice, the guys put on parties for the local kids or go to a carnival, shit like that. We seem to be closing in on a sort of changing of the guard- Ron Perlman stars as Clay Morrow, who along with the now deceased Jack Teller started the Sons of Anarchy gang in the sixties. Clay eventually married Jack's widow, Gemma (Katey Sagal) and acted as a father to their son Jax, who is starting to question his position in the gang and whether he wants more resposibility in a gang that seems to be falling out of line with what his real father originally had in mind. The gang has had the chief of police working with them for years to keep out of trouble as long as the Sons kept Charming safe, but suddenly they're losing their grasp on local law enforcement and the FBI is getting involved, which sets up a great storyline of betrayal towards the end of season that's sure to have a major influence on season two. That was the only storyline that I felt really transcended the show and became must-see television, while most of the rest of the season ranged from good to very good. So that still adds up to a solid season of tv, and I'll jump into season two soon enough.
