Here's the deal. This is exactly what you'd get if you remade Alien with the special effects from Gravity.
And if that sounds awesome, or at least pretty cool, hey, I agree! This was a thoroughly enjoyable space thriller.
But if it sounds entirely derivative and lame, hey, I agree with that too! This was, by all accounts, immensely run-of-the-mill and forgettable.
There's really nothing wrong with it, at all. There just isn't a whole lot it's bringing to the table, either. Good, fine, easy to watch, and probably better than I'm making it sound, but it loses points for being just so formulaic and been-there-done-that.
